WHAT GRADE OF STEEL FOR HYDRAULIC PISTON SHAFT

Hydraulic piston shaft also can be called hydraulic piston rod. It's a very important part. the product is mostly produced from round carbon steel rods, by using high precision centerless grinding and polishing methods, and then chrome plated to a certain plating thickness such as min. 20 microns (0.0008″), min. 25 microns (0.001″), min. 50μm (0.002″) and so on.

The two most common types of hydraulic chrome shafting used to make hydraulic cylinder rods . Chrome Plated Only, and IHCP stands for Induction Hardened & Chrome Plated. Chrome plated shafting is typically 1045 /4140 steel with a hardness of Rc15/19. IHCP is also 1045 steel, but achieves a surface hardness of Rc58/60 through the induction hardening process. It should be noted that induction hardening only effects the surface.
